Volunteer Broward @ Secrets Woods Nature Center (Beautifying Our Park)

NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS? The Secret Woods Nature Center suffered devastating effects from Hurricane Wilma and will celebrate its grand re-opening on April 22nd. On April 21st (National Global and Youth Service Day) 9:00am -2:30pm, Volunteer Broward and the Secret Woods Nature Center will embark on a MASSIVE final cleanup and beautification project at the park. This will assist in preparation for the park’s grand re-opening on April 22, 2006. Want to volunteer? WE NEED YOU! Note to Volunteers from Secret Woods Nature Center... We at Secret Woods Nature Center would like to thank you for volunteering your time to help us preserve this very special park. There are a few things that we would like to make you aware of before you come out for your workday here with us. Secret Woods is a unique nature preserve consisting of three ecosystems; a low hammock, a briny tidal area, and a freshwater wetland. Consequently, most of the terrain here is usually muddy. With this in mind, please note the following: • Wear closed toe shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy. • Wear work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. • A hat and sunglasses are recommended. • Sun block and bug spray are also recommended. • Bring a water bottle with your name on it. We will provide water coolers for you to refill your water bottle. • If you have them, bring work gloves. If you don’t have any we can lend you a pair (we only have large). • All volunteers must have a volunteer application completely filled out and signed before they can begin working. If the volunteer is under 18 years of age, the application must be signed by a parent or guardian.
