HandsOn At Home: Fall into Comfort Totes
Kids in Distress (KID) focuses on supporting children and families through services such as foster care, family preservation, behavioral health, education, and other community-based programs.
The mission of Kids In Distress (KID) is to strengthen families and protect children by providing services that prevent child abuse, neglect, and family disruption, while promoting the safety, well-being, and healthy development of children.
For this month’s HandsOn Learning DIY project, volunteers are being asked to collect items and assemble Fall Into Comfort totes for Kids In Distress. These thoughtful totes will provide children and families with comforting items during times when a little extra kindness can go a long way. By putting together a tote, you’re helping remind a child that their community cares about them and is here to support them. Gather your family, friends, coworkers, or youth group and make a tote that brings comfort, kindness, and a little bit of joy this fall!

- Follow the instructions in the packet. These projects will be provided to real people who will use these items. We ask that you make a true effort to treat each kit with care, quality, and respect — just as you would if you were giving it to someone you know personally.
- Fill Out the HandsOn At Home Documentation Form (THIS STEP IS REQUIRED)
- Mail or drop off your completed project to HandsOn South Florida. **
*Once you have expressed interest and accessed the instructions , you are free to begin the project and submit upon completion.*
**You do not need to be present when dropping off your project. Someone can drop it off on your behalf. Please make sure you complete the DIY Documentation Form. If you are shipping, try to have it arrive during our designated office hours since we operate on a hybrid schedule. **

Thursday, October 15th - 10AM-2PM
Monday, October 19th - 10AM-2PM
Wednesday, October 21st- 9AM-1PM
Thursday, October 22nd- 10AM-2PM
The last day to drop off the HandsOn At Home project will be Thursday, October 22nd.
Please drop off DIY projects at the HandsOn South Florida office, located at 5815-B North Andrews Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. (Use Google Maps)
*Late DIY Project submissions WILL NOT be accepted*
